Since 1991, L.A. Works has contributed to a more equitable Los Angeles by organizing 25,000 volunteers per year to address the most pressing issues of our community through meaningful acts of service.
Everyone In is a campaign to powered by United Way of Greater L.A. that brings together a coalition of nonprofit organizations, businesses, labor and community leaders, and everyday Angelenos to deliver on the promise of Measure H and Proposition HHH. These two ballot initiatives were passed by voters in 2016 and 2017 to provide services and create thousands of units of supportive housing throughout L.A. to end homelessness. The Sustainable City pLAn is a roadmap for a Los Angeles that is environmentally healthy, economically prosperous, and equitable in opportunity for all – now and over the next 20 years. The pLAn is made up of short term and longer term (by 2025 and 2035) targets in 14 categories that will advance our environment, economy and equity.
The Mayor’s Office developed the Los Angeles Resilience Strategy with the collaboration, financial, and technical support of 100 Resilient Cities, as well as community and expert input. The comprehensive plan features 96 immediate actions that give residents the tools to plan and prepare for inevitable shocks and stresses — from earthquakes and flooding to homelessness and climate change. Los Angeles joins the ranks of approximately 40 cities around the world, including Paris, New York, and Bangkok, that have implemented similar strategies.
